The School of Nature

The impulse for The School of Nature springs from the experience that we have inwardly separated ourselves from Nature but still somehow feel that we were once more deeply connected with her. The question is: having achieved an emancipated sense of self through this separation, can we now develop a new, deeper relationship to Nature? How can we—through creative work—reach the spiritual realm that connects us with the generative forces in Nature?

It is in fact possible to plant the seeds of a new culture that will avert the existential threat to Nature and the individual human soul. For the abyss between the human being and Nature can become a productive source of new culture—if it is understood as a frontier of inner growth and discovery. It is in this sense that The School of Nature seeks to prepare the ground for a new relationship with Nature.

The School of Nature will take its students to central and northern Europe: to the Goetheanum in Switzerland and to Fyresdal in Telemark, Norway. At these locations the students will enter into an experiential dialog with Nature through artistic, scientific and agricultural work.
