Rob McWilliams, Conductor (IYB; 6th session)

Rob McWilliams, Conductor (IYB; 6th session)

I have to say that he's really the greatest and funniest conducter I've ever seen (ok I've only seen 3 or 4 so I don't have much for comparison ) but anyhow - I liked him.
One time in my private practice time ( or private sitting around time.. ) he came and just talked to me about about everything under the sun.. when he was in australia.. ( .... was he australian? or did he just live there for a while? )
and he looked really simpatic! yeah thats all that crosses my mind for now...

Re: Rob McWilliams, Conductor (IYB; 6th session)

l had lots of conductors up to now, but he is really the best. And he isn´t only good in his profession, no he is also very human!! Because I don´t know any conductor, who is spending hours for taking pictures with his students!!!

When I was just sitting around in my private practice time he came to me too and I think we were talking for nearly one hour about god and the world.

DrMcWilliams we love you!!

omg- he was an amazing conductor! I loved his accent; it was Hilarious! I thought it was really great how he'd take time to get to know the people in the band. The guy we had in session 7 kept calling me "Tenor Sax Guy"... I didn't really like him so much.

-3 cheers for McWilliams!

Re: Rob McWilliams, Conductor (IYB; 6th session)

And can you remember the rehearsal we had in Wind Ensemble with the circles? It was really great! I think I´ll try it with my Ensemble at home too...

Yeah! I remember the circles.  That was cool.  There were two people missing or something from my circle, so it was small ... but still.  That was fun.  The funny thing was though, I've already played two of the pieces we played.  Variations on a Korean Folk Song, and Puszta.  I LOVED Puszta, and I've only played the II and III movement, so I really enjoyed that.  Mr. McWilliams was a cool guy.

I think he was born in Australia but moved to Ohio (?) in the United States.  He teaches at a University there now .. I think

I was unfortunate to not know Rob McWilliams, but I know Puzta and I agree it's an awesome piece!  I've only played the first 3 movements but I love it!

Yah no one has posted on this one for a while so I thought I would say something!

Rob McWilliams is a really great conductor...he was "rat cool" (right cool) but ya, ummm...the music we played wasn't as great as I was hoping in the beginning, but it ended up being not so bad...
