Do you want to keep the old-style scoring system as is? If not, you might want to award points for:
- Time spent solving tower The faster, the more points. Tricky - dificult towers would score lower, or would require much higher starting values for time score. Seconds used would count as a penalty
- Objects zapped Hey, I just like to see things explode... Why not award a few extra points for people taking the trouble to hunt down that annoying Hopper?
- Surviving spiders Should provide more points, really. It takes hard brain work in some towers!
- Retry bonus Penalty for repeated retries should be higher. Perhaps use a geometric scale?
- Base tower score Difficult, big towers should provide more points than itsy-bitsy simple ones. I think it's pretty obvious which towers have the potential to be real tough nuts.
Well, just some thoughts. Sorry if I sound like a nit-picker sometimes. It's just I really like what you're doing, and I want it to be the best possible.

Re: Scoring
Of all these, I don't necessarily agree with many - but I do agree about the base score. Difficult towers deserve a greater reward.
Shooting extra objects to score more points is an idea - but I think this should depend on the objects you shoot! So taking out static targets like forcers or flags would score you little, but hoppers would score lots and taking out zappers would score more.
Does this also apply to 'extra' klondikes?

Why not? But don't ask me, it's Mayo's call...

I don't think this is a good idea. The "difficulty" of a target is not really influenced by the type of the target, but from the tower surrounding it. And taking too much care of scoring (No, not like THAT this time...) can easily detract from the original intent of a tower. One could of course create towers where it's easy to destroy one item and really hard to destroy five or six, but I think we should stick to the aim of towers the way they are defined in the original game: Collect a certain amout of klondikes and destroy a certain amount of items (Btw, why does the game use the term "robots" here?!?), and if you want to do it good, save the lives of your spiders! Though I do think that a score bonus for remaining time is a pretty good idea. Maybe one could even count the number of "steps" taken by the spiders, so the player would get a bonus for finding an "efficient" solution with a minimum of walking.
Re: Scoring
It seems there has been a database crash this week so I am writing this replay again here:
Does someone know how exactly the scroring is done inside original ToB? I want to have a scoring in RToB, which is similar to the orinial.
Scoring was: Tower Bonus: 100 points. Retry Bonus: 100 points, dropping with every retry/abort/fail. I vaguely recall a retry cost 4 points, but I'm not sure, and there might have been different penalties for the different failures. What happens when you hit 0 I don't know either. Survivor Bonus: 10 points per spider still alive at the end of the tower.
Re: Scoring
Last time? Do you have already answered before the crash?
I seem to remember nothing happening, really. You just don't get the points, that's all.

Re: Scoring
There is a difference between "Abandon" and "Restart" actions in the original game -> 8 or 4 points for each retry, but I will make it easier in the remake. A retry will always cost 4 point.
I don't know, if the tower bonus is always 100 points. Do you know a case when it can differ? I am currently working on the handling for saved games in RToB.
