I just found this old game called "Lasertank", which you may like - I do. Very simple engine and graphics, but lots and lots of intricate puzzles constructed using a small number of objects on a 2D playing field. The aim is simple: get the tank to the flag. Accomplishing this can be quite a challenge, however.
The game has been around for about ten years and, yes, there is an editor, and there are lots of levels.
It has some of those qualities which make ToB so attractive for me.

Re: Lasertank
I have downloaded and tested it. It is a funny game with some spirit of the ToB world and is the right game on my old notebook while i am spending my time by my parents on the weekend. There are some interresting elements in this game, which could be extended elements in the RToB(2) game (if it is playable again in the new version), like the swivel ("drehbaren") prisms or the pushable bridges ("versetzbaren bretter, die einem über den fluss helfen") or others...
To the current status of RToB: The work kills my time for developing on RToB But since this year I'm implementing a new version of RToB in Java and my own native 3D-engine (where i'm using the most code of the old RToB version), but the progress of developing is very slowly
