ToB2

Re: ToB2

Veni, Vidi and it sucked.

The only brilliant thing about it was the planet factory, and the guide itself. Acting was disappointing, humour was underplayed, and I still don't understand why they are trying to make it popular. Americans don't all have to understand it. So they should stop dumbing it down.

Re: ToB2

I haven't seen it. I've seen trailers for it though, and they seem to have got Zaphod and Marvin completely wrong, utterly miscast Ford and Arthur and totally missed the point of the film. Bloody American film industry...

As for the T-shirts for the gay community - ideally they'd need rainbow motifs.

PS: Just booked train tickets for the Germany holiday online. I love the way we can print out our own tickets!! I also like the way the site tells us which platform the train leaves from and arrives at, which is far beyond the feeble powers of British Rail.

Re: ToB2

Never judge a movie by it's trailer!
But I guess you're right. Some of the characters (especially Marvin) don't really seem to fit. I'll watch the movie anyway, trying to see it as plain entertainment, separated from the books and BBC stuff.

You're going to Germany? Where?!
There's one thing you forgot about the Deutsche Bahn: They're NOT able to tell you the correct price for many routes, and they... eh... There's TWO things you forgot about the Spanish Inq... the Deutsche Bahn: They're NOT able to tell you the correct price for many routes, and they obstinately refuse to tell you the cheapest price possible...

Re: ToB2

and...

Let me start all over again.
There's THREE things you forgot about the Deutsche Bahn: They're NOT able to tell you the correct price for many routes, and they obstinately refuse to tell you the cheapest price possible, AND they're never on time.
That's why NO ONE EXPECTS THE DEUTSCHE BAHN!!

Re: ToB2

Aaah... don't knock the DB until you've tried certain of the British railway companies. My... they do have a reputation, and they're doing their best to maintain it.

Still, the DB's route planning software is a piece of... I mean, it could use some improvements , even if the people are nice enough and, quite often, competent and helpful.

But let me echo Fawlty's question - where are you going?

And regarding the movie - I watched a few snippets and was mostly disappointed. I liked the slapstick, though, even if they botched the humor of the original.

Re: ToB2

It's an all-over tour of Germany, really - Berlin, Cologne, Berchtesgaden (I hope I spelt that right) and flying home from Munich.

And yes, British Rail (which no longer exists, now being fragmented into many regional companies, all of them equally awful) is pretty dire. Trains run late fairly often, occasionally don't run at all, and the trains themselves are not always too well maintained. And the fares keep going up...

Re: ToB2

Don't forget the special leaves, that can grind all british transport to a halt at any time. I think we also stop for special snow, right?

Re: ToB2

Well, if you need a break on the trip from Berlin to Cologne, you're invited to a cup of tea in Gütersloh!

Re: ToB2

This sounds strangely familiar somehow. The article doesn't mention any express ways though, neither terrestrial nor intergalactic...

Re: ToB2

I don't want to kill the flow here, but just a quick invite to look through the latest screenshots. We now have all the models, and did a sample render so you can see what they look like.

They are in the gallery section of tob2 ( https://www.tob2.com/screenshots.html )

We also liked one shot (the tower infront of the clouds) enough to make it into a wallpaper. you can download it also from the media section ( https://www.tob2.com/media.html) under downloads.

sorry for the interuption. We will now resume our regularly scheduled programing... "spelling for beginers" - first word "BEGINNER!"
