Well, we haven't listened have we... Sorry about that.
Mith is doing a lot and most of it does not relate to ToB2 (which is ok, since he has to build a future for himself before he can concentrate on ToB2!!!)
Anyway... he is in the process of building an editor, which helps with RC1. We need it to ensure that RC1 can handle everything you guys will throw at it. It will all take a bit more time then expected, but we (and especially Mith) has not given up on it.
I have made some screenshots of the very early version of the editor. Hope you can see where we are taking it. You can find the 2 screenshots here:

Oh... my, that is a big tower in that screenshot, I must say.
I'm not sure I'd be willing to go up against something of that size.
It does look rather good, though.

Have fun
Well... doesn't look bad, bad the only way to decide would be to test it yourself, I'd think. You really can't say much from a screenshot and a short description.

I agree. The screenshots are looking good, and the rendered icons approach is a nice idea. But the most important thing on editors is always 'usabiliy' and handling. Let us play around with it, and you'll get more significant comments.
By the way, here's some fawlty news:
