Das Update für den Internet Explorer 6 (mit SP1) schließt eine Sicherheitslücke, über die Angreifer Programme von Remote-Standorten ausführen können, während eine Webseite angezeigt wird. Betroffen sind alle Systeme auf denen der Internet Explorer installiert ist, selbst wenn ein anderer Browser verwendet wird. Microsoft bewertet die Sicherheitslücke als kritisch und rät zum unverzüglichen Update.

Microsoft hat wie angekündigt am Dienstag den zweiten Release Candidate (RC 2) des Service Pack 2 für Windows XP zum Download bereitgestellt. Wie bereits das RC 1 gibt es das RC 2 auch in einer deutschen Version.
