Re: Books

Now the time for private lecture is over and I have to come back to specialized literature (at the moment: Romain Law), because university starts in 3 weeks...

Re: Books

ahhh i have a reading phase at the time... about ten books lying on the floor in my room.

actually I'm reading "vivir para contarla" (in german) from garcía márquez, it's really nice just telling about his life about how it was to live in columbia. I really like it.
and one from john irving "a son of the circus" which is great too..
and I'm looking forward to read all the others.. so strange I had half a year now without reading almost nothing and now...yeah I love books

but in german we have to read books now.. and I don't like reading books if I have to.. goethe... I've never read something of him before, only an excerpt of "faust".
anybody knows if he's only writing in lines?

Re: Books

No he has also written in prose!

Re: Books

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a very famous German writer who lived from 1749 to 1832. It´s compulsory for every German and Austrian student in higher schools to read something of him and "Faust" is his most famous work...

Re: Books

Right now in school we are reading Frankenstein.  The author goes on and on and on!  Then, I believe, it is on to the classic novel 1984, which I read last year but must read again. I am also reading Paradise Lost by Milton.  It's slow going, because every few phrases I have to wake myself up.   Just kidding, but it's definitely taking me a while.

It's got so many dotted eighth notes in it/I'd keep 'er under fifty beats a minute

Re: Books

I guess that there are also English translations! But take care that you buy Goethe´s Faust! Because there are many books with a similar title (and also similar topics), e.g. Dr. Faustus by Thomas Mann....

But only Goethe´s is the true one!

Re: Books

1984... we have to read that in English... what's it like?

And I'll look into finding the one true Faust!
