Books

Re: Books

I already know it's good because i have read it before, but she wants me to read it again.....so i guess it's not as bad.

Re: Books

well, when it´s a good book it´s ok, but I can remember my school time when we had to read different stuff I really didn´t like... I mostly just read a summary and that was enough too!

Re: Books

Yes, I don't like it when they assign class books to read and you have to end up doing projects for them.,...they end up choosing really boring books...

Re: Books

Yes that can end very bad, because some teachers don´t have any taste at all...

But otherwise you get to know lots of different books and it´s often the case that you get to know a new author you are fascinated of!

Re: Books

My dad bought me this AWESOME book called "This is Your Brain on Music" and it explains sooo many cool things!  It talks about different frequencies, why different instruments have different timbres, and why we like the sound of a clarinet as opposed to a buzz saw.  Even non-musicians can read it without being confused, and musicians learn something that they didn't know before... which is really cool.  It's from both a scientific and musical perspective, and since I love both, I love the book!  Really, you should check it out, at least borrow it from the library if you don't want to get a copy of your own.

Re: Books

Could you give me the name of the author? I guess I won´t find it in any library here - probably I need to order it somewhere!

Re: Books

Sure: His name is Daniel J. Levitin, and he's a professor of music at McGill Univeristy in Quebec.  I don't know if there are any German translations, but your English is pretty much perfect anyway...

Re: Books

No problema, amiga.  It's true though... I need to practice my French more... we just learned about direct and indirect object pronouns... like "je lui parle" and "je l'aime" and "j'y irai" but we just had a test and I got 100%!  For basic French, that's not saying a lot.

Anyway, get the book, it's good:)
