differentiation of household-enterprises in Khorezm, Uzbekistan

Description:
The PhD researcher will conduct PhD research as part of ZEF's long-term
interdisciplinary research project on sustainable land and water use in that the
Khorezm province, which is part of the Amu Darya basin, Aral sea region (full project
title Economic and Ecological Restructuring of Land and Water Use in the Khorezm
Region (Uzbekistan): A Pilot Project in Development Research)
https://www.khorezm.uni-bonn.de/). The PhD researcher will develop a relational
typology of farm household-enterprises in order to map and monitor dynamic changes
in the agrarian structure in the research area.
Tasks:
-    Conduct PhD research (shorter or longer fieldwork period in all project years)
-    Actively participate in project activities
Start and duration:
>From 1 March 2007, for four years, including one year of project-related tasks other
than the PhD research. (Subject to final approval of project funding.)
Duty station:
-    During fieldwork: Khorezm province, Uzbekistan
-    Otherwise: Bonn, Germany
Requirements:
-    Relevant Masters degree (rural development, rural sociology, development
economics, political economy of agrarian change, etc.)
-    Previous experience in Uzbekistan and/or the Central Asian region preferred
-    Excellent writing skills in English
-    Uzbek and/or Russian language skills are a recommendation
-    Good team member
