The Institute for Agricultural Policy and Market Research (Prof. Dr. R. Herrmann)
seeks applications for a Research Assistant to work in the Collaborative Research
Centre "Land Use Options for Peripheral Regions" (SFB 299), funded by the German
Research Foundation (DFG). The post is financed from 1 November 2006 to 31
December 2008, on a part-time basis (0.5 BAT II a) and offers the opportunity to work
on a Ph.D. thesis in the residual time.
Tasks:
Within the Collaborative Research Centre "Land Use Options for Remote Regions" the
successful candidate will contribute to reports, publications, presentations and the
dissemination of research findings. The major task is to elaborate regional interests in
European agricultural policy options. The current methodological framework of the
project is based on welfare economics, market models for agricultural commodities,
and econometric approaches and simulations. These methods shall be used to
analyse in how far agricultural market policies lead to differential regional impacts.
Required education/skills:
The candidate should have obtained a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics,
Food Economics, or Economics. In addition, he/she should possess good computer
skills and speak and write in fluent English. Experiences in quantitative methods of
agricultural market and policy analysis are desired. Besides, applicants are expected
to have a broad foundation in economic theory, policy analysis and welfare economics.
The willingness and capability to work in a team and within a large interdisciplinary
project is essential.
