Oh, this reminds me of a thing I wanted to mention. I should post it to the "Technical improvements"-thread, but anyway...
I think "STRG/CTRL + TAB" is a rather dangerous combination. As I'm quite used to press "ALT + TAB" to switch tasks, of course I accidentally hit those keys in the remake, too. That wouldn't be too much of a problem if the game could with it, but the result I got was a crash. Maybe just using the '^' key (for example) would be better.
Or how about F12? I hardly ever get to use that one outside of WinUAE.
Oh, and danke for the STRG translation. One needs to know what it's short for before you can look it up...

True. This doesn't really work. You could (I suppose) leave a tower in the very first group until the end!! On a side note, which should probably be mentioned in another topic, how about a thingy for the remake which lets you replay completed towers? Just for fun, no extra points. Artinum. |
After all the weeks here are some notes about my ToB Remake project:
I am currently writing a complete new version of my game engine in Java. This will take some month, because i have only time on the weekend to work on the game. The current development status is very low. I have done the texture loader and input module in Java and the native part in C++. Now I am implementing the first 2D render routines for GUI, so there is no ToB code in the new project at the moment, but the first lines of game logic code will folllow, if I have completed the main render routines for drawning the meshes. All the new code is written in OO (object orientied), so there are more capabilities to extend the game later.
If someone is interested in the old (and unfinished) source code of my ToB Remake project, so leave a message here. Maybe someone can finish the old version of the Remake ;-)

Mayo kindly sent me his code already. Don't expect me to work on it, though! I'll spend the next few weeks renovating and moving to my new home. And then never pay rent again.
The code probably won't run in my development environment anyway. But I'm gonna take a look at it to learn from Mayo's mistakes.
One update here all over the months
I am still working on the new RToB (V2.0) version in Java! The focus in the new version is to handle correct game logic. Too much things have been gone wrong in the old version of RToB. It will take much work to do all things right on the new version and I have only some time on the weekend to code on RToB (work kills the leisure time ).
By the way, I got the disassembled source code from Tob1, but the code is too complex for me to get the input i need for the game logic.

You mean you can't read 68k code ? |
Ah. That would seem to be a major obstacle. Any white knights in shining armour riding to the rescue?
