Why Turkey issued arrest warrant for this Kurdish leader
As Turkey continues with its stance in claiming the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and actors in Rojava (the term Kurds use to refer to western Kurdistan in Syria) are one in the same, Co-chairman of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Salih Muslim was accused of involvement in the Feb. 17 bomb attack in Ankara. Along with key PKK names, including Cemil Bayik, Murat Karayilan, Fehman Huseyin, Zubeyir Aydar and Remzi Kartal, now there is also an arrest warrant for Muslim. https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/11/turkey-syria-issue-arrest-warrant-for-pyd-chief-muslim.html
Turkey accused of planning assassination of Kurdish activists abroad
The Turkish government is accused of planning plots to kill Kurdish officials abroad.
The German media reported that the state prosecutors office in Bremen had initiated an investigation into a Turkish agent conspiring to kill two people active in the Kurdish community outside Turkey.
In its quest to become part of the Mosul operation, the Turkish government has been warning that the predominantly Shiite volunteer Popular Mobilization Units will ethnically cleanse Sunnis from Mosul and its environs. But since that argument has not yielded the desired results of being able to intervene in Iraq, Ankara is now using the argument that the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has turned Sinjar into a base. By declaring that Sinjar is on the way to becoming a new Qandil, we cannot allow that, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made Turkeys position clear. https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/11/turkey-syria-iraq--shengal-become-second-qandil.html
German arms company stops supplying weapons to NATO-member Turkey
German defense manufacturing company Heckler & Koch will stop providing arms to Turkey.
We only want to deliver to reliable countries, also not countries that are unequivocal democratic, not corrupt, and are part of NATO or close to NATO, an anonymous employee of the organization told the German newspaper Die Welt.
The veil of mystery has yet to be lifted over an alleged airstrike on Nov. 24 against Turkish-backed opposition rebels in northern Syria that left at least four Turkish soldiers dead and several others wounded. The incident, which under normal circumstances would have led to a torrent of indignant chest thumping by Turkish leaders, appears to have been quietly buried, with no mention of it in todays headlines. Its absence prompts the question, Why? https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/11/turkey-backed-opposition-syria-air-attack-ypg.html
Kurdish authorities harming recovery of Iraq's Yazidis: HRW
Kurdish restrictions on the movement of goods are harming the recovery of Iraq's Yazidi minority, which was targeted for genocide by the Islamic State group, Human Rights Watch said Sunday.
It said restrictions imposed by the autonomous Kurdish government "disproportionate to any possible security considerations are causing unnecessary harm to people's access to food, water, livelihoods, and other fundamental rights".
It said the restrictions affected the Sinjar area, the main hub of the Yazidis, a Kurdish-speaking religious minority whose faith is despised by jihadists.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (RTE) doesnt only have gangs made up of secret soldiers brought from Eastern Turkistan and Kyrgzystan and Central Asia. He also has a secret gang of Kurds. These gangs made their name when they attacked Aleppos Eşrefiye neighborhood in 2012. Since that day, these gangs have been emerging under different names. Most recently, these people have been seen in the plan to invade Syria named Euphrates Shield.
After the Rojava Revolution, a secret gang group of Kurds RTE got his hands on through some forces was formed. This gang is activated occasionally and discarded when the deed is done.
RTE chooses the men he picks, turns into gangs and discards from Azaz, Rai, Exterin, Shehba and Bab.
These people were made to form two groups named Azadi and Selahattin around Aleppo first. These groups formed in the beginning of 2012 first made their name heard by attacking the Kurdish neighborhood of Eşrifye. Then they took part in the so-called FSA in Qestel, Cindo, Tel Hemis, Tel Birak, Serekaniye and many other places and attacked Kurdish people, cities, towns and villages. https://anfenglish.com/features/erdogan-s-kurdish-gangs
Bilgen: TAF(turkische armee force)given a mission for minesweeping in Syria
Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) Spokesperson Ayhan Bilgen held a press conference in the party headquarters on the recent developments.
Ayhan Bilgen first criticized Turkeys Syria policies and said: The policy in Syria has been wrong from the start, and now Turkey is paying for that mistake. They first negotiated with ISIS, and dubbed them an indignant crowd. When international reaction towards ISIS grew stronger, they continued their relationship over Al Nusra. Our deputies stated numerous times in the parliament that the relationship built with Al Nusra will cost Turkey greatly. Al Nusra was deemed a terrorist organization in Russia, but state officials have made comments that they dont see it as such. The whole world knows how moderate an opposition the FSA is. We will soon see the organizations under the FSA structure dubbed terrorist organizations. https://anfenglish.com/news/bilgen-taf-given-a-mission-for-minesweeping-in-syria

Erdoğan, once again: We won't allow a Kurdish state in Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has once again confessed that Kurds were the target of their Syria policy.
Speaking at the DEİK General Assembly meeting in Istanbul, Erdoğan said the followings regarding the aim of the Kurds in Syria:
What they aim is to found a new state in North Syria. It must be known that we will not allow such a state to be founded. Without doubt, we are deeply hurt by our martyrs in this process but we must know that there is a need for martyrs and veterans in order for a land to exist. https://anfenglish.com/news/erdogan-once-again-we-won-t-allow-a-kurdish-state-in-syria
Rojava leader: Turkey cannot stop Kurds from advancing in Syria
Fawza al-Yusuf, a Syrian Kurd from a modest family, left northern Syria as a teenager and student in 1991, fearful of arrest for her political activities. She joined the uprising that broke out in the Kurdish areas of southeastern Turkey in 1977 and remains ongoing, calling herself Zakho Zaghrous after Zakho, a city in Iraqi Kurdistan, and Mount Zaghrous, which dominates the mountain range between the Iranian- and Iraqi-ruled Kurdish regions. https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/12/syria-kurds-uprising-turkey-federal-raqqa.html
YBŞ: HRW report not true, we invite them to the battle front
HRW claimed in a report two days ago that armed groups affiliated to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) have recruited boys and girls, and that these groups sent children into direct combat, placing them at risk by training them in areas that Turkey has attacked with airstrikes in its conflict with the PKK, such as Iraqs Qandil mountain area.

Foreign volunteer unit fights to save lives in Syria
In September, when northern Syria was still hot enough for sand flies to bite, John Harding sat at a makeshift table of plywood and concrete bricks at a former dairy that is now a base for the Peoples Protection Units (YPG). He was telling his favorite story from his second tour serving as a volunteer alongside YPG and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighting IS.
The Syrian city of Manbij had been liberated from IS in mid-August after months of fierce fighting, and the Tactical Medical Unit (TMU), also known by its Kurdish name Yekineyen Bijiski Taktiki a group of around half a dozen mostly Western volunteers was approached by a local who was holding one of the many IS mines left in the city. https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/12/northern-syria-foreign-medical-volunteers.html

Kurds may be the victim of the Russian-Turkish cooperation
Lyon II University faculty member and Washington Institute fellow Middle East expert Fabrice Balanche published an analysis in Le Figaro on the aggreement signed among the regime and the groups they are in conflict with by the mediation of Russia, Iran and Turkey. Balanche underlined that there is a risk that the Kurds may be sacrificed as a result of the Russian-Turkish cooperation.
The analysis was published with the title Syria: Why the ceasefire doesnt announce the end of the war and in it Balanche argues that Turkey has joined the Russia-Iran alliance in a tactical move and that the ceasefire was so far a success.
Balanche pointed out that the ceasefire doesnt include regions under Fatah Al Sham (previously known as Al Nusra) control and foresaw Bashar Asad staying in power until 2021, and stated that the withdraw of Asad mentioned in the agreement was just to lure the West and the Gulf countries to the table.
Balanche stated that the Ahrar Al Sham gang was added to the agreement with Turkeys imposition and the radicals in the gangs are opposed to it. Balanche foresaw that the agreement may increase the divide and divisions among the anti-regime groups, primarily Ahrar Al Sham, and underlined that that was in line with the military goals of the Asad regime. https://anfenglish.com/news/balanche-kurds-may-be-the-victim-of-the-russian-turkish-cooperation
Iraqi Kurdistan oil a slippery issue
Iraqi Kurdistan has been shipping oil to Turkey without Baghdad's knowledge, resulting in Iraq violating an OPEC agreement, according to accusations leveled Jan. 3 by Iraq's prime minister. Also, Iraq recently confirmed that a Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) minister had offered to sell oil fields to Turkey for $5 billion, again without consulting Baghdad.
Kurdish President hosts Turkeys PM, discuss PKK withdrawal from Sinjar
Turkeys Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on Sunday met Kurdish President Masoud Barzani in Erbil, capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, to discuss recent developments in the region.
The withdrawal of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and affiliated groups from the Yezidi region of Shingal/Sinjar in northern Iraq was at the top of the Erbil meetings agenda.
Barzani and Yildirim have also discussed the developments of the fight against ISIS.
The Democratic Êzidî Society Coordination had held a meeting, with the participation of more than 60 delegates from across Kurdistan, Europe, Russia and Armenia, on Mount Shengal between December 25-28. The coordination issued the final declaration of this meeting, where it described the PKK as the hope of Êzidî people and called upon the guerillas to not withdraw from Shengal.
MASSACRES ARE NOT OUR FATE
In its declaration, the coordination emphasized that massacres are not the fate of Êzidî people, who now want to put an end to massacres. For this purpose, the coordination underlined the importance of learning lessons from the latest 74th massacre and drew attention to the necessity of unity and solidarity. The coordination called for initiatives that would unify Êzidî people and achieve a platform and mechanism that represents the will of Êzidîs.
CALL TO LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL FORCES
The Democratic Êzidî Society Coordination described Shengal as the motherland of all Êzidîs and called upon Êzidî people to prioritize Shengal in all of their efforts. The coordination called for material and moral support to Shengal, and described the recent debates on Shengal as disturbing and painful. The coordination said Those that have nothing to say to Êzidî people are claiming to take control of the Êzidîs in Shengal and are using the support of the AKP government, who is an enemy of Kurds and Êzidîs. After abandoning Êzidîs to ISIS, they act like nothing has happened and try to establish their rule over Shengal. We demand that the UN, EU and other international organizations function as guarantor parties, and that the PKK, which is an effective national force in the fight against ISIS, continues to defend our society. PKK asked nobody when it came to our rescue, and nobody was able to prevent it then. They came with a humane and national responsibility We call upon the PKK: If you had not come to our rescue, we could have been wiped or Shengal could have been abandoned if survivors migrated from the city. With your arrival, you became the hope of our people, who have seen you as their security and decided to stay and resist under the most difficult conditions. Many of these peoples problems, such as security and administration, have not yet been resolved. We think that you still have a responsibility and, although you have not made an official statement or attempt, we do not think that it would be right for you to withdraw from Shengal. We believe that this society needs you and that you will be sensitive on this issue.
Although the announcement of a fragile ceasefire on 30 December brought some respite to the majority of people across Syria, the tides have been turning in a different direction for some groups in the war-torn country.
The truce, backed by Turkey and Russia acting as guarantors, involves the return of the warring sides to negotiations in Astana, after nearly six years of fighting and before the revival of the Geneva peace process on 8 February.
The chaos and crisis created by the dirty war policies implemented by the AKP regime continue to expand. The palace regime failed to take hold in the face of the war concept they implemented and are now trying to save face by increasing the number of village guards in the region. The regime has started giving incentives to people to be village guards under the guise of security, and they are forming paramilitary forces.
The project aims to employ 30 thousand new counterguerilla units, and it will be implemented in Kurdish cities. Officially, 15 thousand of them will be registered as village guards and the other 15 thousand people will go down in the records as volunteer village guards. https://anfenglish.com/kurdistan/akp-starts-employing-paramilitary-forces

British anti-ISIS volunteers condemn UK support for Turkey, demand support for Kurds
The British government secured a multi billion pound fighter jet deal with Turkey after a visit by the UK Prime Minister Theresa May to Turkey last Friday.
British volunteers in anti-ISIS forces in Syria YPG and SDF say that Turkey only bombs the Kurds in Syria, and that the Kurds need more support.

Hope and fear for Syria's Kurds
What happens when a black rat mates with a white rat? The question prompted nervous giggles in a classroom in northeastern Syria. A dark-haired girl in a white hijab hazarded a guess: All their babies will be born black."
This accusation is one of the most recurring and often repeated. These allegations against the Kurds of Rojava date from yesterday and came mainly from Turkey, which is also a specialist in ethnic cleansing against the Kurds by razing to the ground in the 1990s between 3000 and 4000 Kurdish villages. They became institutionalized when Amnesty International published a report which accused the main Syrian Kurdish party PYD of practicing ethnic cleansing against Turkmen and Arabs. This report was largely repeated. Yet many questions arise in view of its realization process. Let's start with one of its editors are close to the AKP, the Islamist Party of Erdoğan known for its ability to produce large amount of intoxication. Then the question of sources arises quickly. YBŞ/YJŞ: We have the power to respond to every attack on our soil
Shengal/Women's Resistance Units (YBŞ/YJŞ Commands released a statement about the attack of KDP forces on Shengal.
The statement said the followings:
On March 2, a group of gangs, called "Roj Peshmergas" led by ENKS, made their way from Sihelan and Duhok to Shengal. These groups of gangs came to Khanesor at 13:30. Our forces talked to this group to find out why they came here. It was understood from the talks that this group wanted to occupy Shengal and control other areas in the hands of our forces.
When our people in the region heard the arrival of these groups of gangs, they disagreed with them, standing against them and all the children, women and elderly people expressed their anger. At the same time, our forces took measures to prevent this group from progressing and for no other tension to take place.
On the other hand, our efforts continued for this group to go back. But despite all our efforts, in the morning of March 3, these groups of gangs attacked our forces simultaneously from many sides with 30 Humvees, armored vehicles and all kinds of weapons. For this reason, our forces responded to the attack in the framework of defense and clashes began.
The clashes lasted approximately 3 hours, in which seven of our comrades reached martyrdom and 20 of our comrades were injured. Two of our fallen comrades are HPG fighters. These comrades were also martyred because they did not want to get involved and fight.
It is very strange and meaningful that this attack was launched after the Ankara talks. It is very clear that these attack plans were planned during those talks. These aggressive gang groups were directly trained and financed by Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT). In this framework, these groups of gangs are used everywhere for the interests of Turkey. https://anfenglish.com/kurdistan/ybs-yjs-we-have-the-power-to-respond-to-every-attack-on-our-soil
